Hello friends.

Since 2007, Common Craft has created short, simple videos that make complex ideas easy to understand. Educators around the world use them to engage learners, save time, and spark lasting understanding.

Our mission remains the same today, but Common Craft continues to evolve. Since 2012, Common Craft has been a membership service, allowing individuals and organizations to download and embed videos from our library. Common Craft members have been the motor behind our work for over a decade, and we’re so thankful.

Last week, we transitioned to a new version of Common Craft. We’ve discontinued our membership service for new customers and returned to our roots: digital downloads. Our existing members have been transitioned to a new resource.

The website has had a complete makeover, and the new video library makes finding videos a snap.

About Digital Downloads

You can now purchase and immediately download any title with a “lifetime license”, which means you can use it for teaching, training, or professional work with no subscriptions or renewals. It’s yours to keep.

Here’s an example.

What’s Included in Each Download

Each title is delivered as a ZIP file with everything you need for sharing the video:

  • Video File (.mp4) - Original
  • Video File (.mp4) - Captioned in English
  • Lesson Plan (.pdf) - Discussion questions, quiz questions, further reading
  • Subtitle File (.srt) - Adds closed captioning to the video when hosted
  • Video Thumbnail (.jpg) - The image that appears before the video is played.
  • Video Transcript and Info (.txt) Voiceover text and video data
  • Licensing Guide

Using the Videos in Education

As a licensed user, you can use the video in a wide variety of situations:

  • Save the video to your computer
  • Add the video to a presentation
  • Upload the video to a learning management system, Google Classroom, Kaltura, etc.
  • Use the video in an online course or website
  • Display the video on a screen for your audience
  • If you use a service like YouTube, it MUST be published as an “unlisted” video.

A 33% Discount for Newsletter Readers

The coupon code below makes each video $9.99 (a 33% discount from $14.99) and will disappear on September 30th.

Hello friends,I'm writing with a quick tip for organizing an explanation. I've used this example in workshops and courses and it seems to stick. If you're looking for ideas and help with clarifying your message,...
